Sense for Trance: in the mood for summer vibes

Last Saturday 11th June took place the event “Sense for Trance” in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. Gorinchem is a small city in the province of Zuid-Holland. Was my first time here and I must say it was a really especial experience that left me wanting for more.

Intro

Let’s say almost all parties I know and went up to now (since July 2014) mostly in the Netherlands, have been always not far from Utrecht, centre of Holland. This means, I barely visit the south of the Netherlands; until this day.

Sense for Trance presented itself with an amazing line-up featuring Mr. Solarstone, Ferry Tayle, Matt Bukovski. Among these international names, also local DJ’s: Carolin, Steeff, Midix, Rhun, legendary 4 Strings, Niki from neighbours’ country Belgium and one of my favourites Ruben Verhagen.

I missed the first 4 hours of the party, arrived there around 16:15 and left before midnight, almost like Cinderella. Needless to say, we missed Ruben Verhagen, we needed to go earlier to be on time to catch our last trains back home.

Anyway, the experience was great. Almost like going on vacation. Going south, you know, already feels good! The weather was good, dry, and sunny and warms enough. Like an introduction to what it is still to come. We can say it out loud:  Sense for Trance is the perfect way to open the summer festival season time! With the unpredictable Dutch weather, the organization was pico bello. The location was a really big place for 1400 people, covered, with good equipment. All details were taken care.

When the mood is on

I arrived when Rhun was still playing. The tempo was good, and this feeling of hope when you know you are already arriving late and you still can join in. Nice place, nice vibe.

The best of going to party somewhere away for me is when meeting again your friends. These last 2 years have been amazing, meeting lots of new people from all around the world! Real friendships started and we get the chance to know better each other; so many beautiful people. The most amazing thing for me is that real trance family spirit. Of peace, unit, love, respect.

I was really happy to meet a lot of friends, but especially trance buddy Christian, from Trance Family Switzerland, who came all the way just for the party! He is really pure trance!

We saw Rich Mowatt a.k.a. Solarstone outside when he arrived, around the time we also arrived to the event. Was nice to see him, he looked a bit tired but was really kind and eager to play.

Solarstone did something incredible that night. I still can’t believe it. There were two especial moments I won’t ever forget: he dropped “A little respect” from Erasure, which was one of my favourite group bands in the late 80’s!!! I was insane in love with that song! So this moment was wow, amazing! Then later he dropped “Major Tom (Coming home) from R.I.P. David Bowie and it was like feeling totally speechless. I’m so happy I was there at that moment and not walking around, talking to people or going to the bathroom 😉

Carolin was amazing, she really smashed it! Really nice how she was building it up to dance like crazy. Also, great to see her on decks together with Ruben Verhagen!

The first summer vibes

Ferry Tayle was also good, but I sort of missed the ‘magic’. I think this is something really personal, the experience we have while alone dancing among friends and at the same time in your own world just experiencing the music.

There were moments I was no surprised. I’ve listened lots of sets from Ferry Tayle the last weeks, and after what Solarstone did, I was maybe expecting a bit more magic.

Our final act was Matt Bukovski, a young Polish DJ, a real talent! He was recently featured in the radio program of Lisa Owen “Trance around the world” via TER.

He finished and we left. We went back walking to the train station. It was a beautiful night. We walked a nice path, with croaking frogs and were on time to catch our last trains back home. Gorinchem is a really beautiful city, the perfect set for more events like this, for the love of trance and the trance family spirit.

And yes, summer is almost around the block.
