What happens when two generations of DJs come together for collaboration? Magic.

While many producers are getting closer to the EDM bounty, Standerwick and Chris Schweizer have provided their bold statement that trance is alive and going strong.

In a world where EDM seems to be dominating, with a decreasing amount of creativity when it comes to producing new tracks; the moment two producers join forces to create a massive trance tune which actually sounds original, it feels like a breath of fresh air. This is the case of ‘Predator’, born as collaboration between British legend Standerwick and Argentinian ‘promise’ Chris Schweizer.

‘Predator’ is a hard-hitting track, a powerful 138 bpm piece, loaded with energy and the distinguishable imprints of both producers. Providing a mix of classical and tech trance sounds, this could probably be one of the most accomplished tunes released in the last few months. It’s a beast that will probably tear any sound system apart.

When asked about how the track came to life, Chris Schweizer explained that “I know Ian (Standerwick) for a long time now, and we always talked about creating a track together. By the end of 2015 we set it as something more serious and we started working on it. I started creating the main beat, and he was in charge of the melody and sequencing”.

“We worked remotely, via internet. We both use different software to produce, therefore we sent each other the stems and then we kept working on it in that way”, he explains.

As for the experience of working together and about what we can expect next, Schweizer states that “It was a big pleasure working with Ian, he’s a producer with many years of experience and he really knows what he’s doing. We enjoyed a lot producing “Predator” and we have even talked about a follow-up. Who knows?”

Tracks like this are like a statement: trance is here to stay. Despite all criticisms about the new, the old, the classic and the innovative, it’s easy to see that there’s so much potential to exploit and so many good producers out there ready to deliver what the trance crowd needs: music. It’s not about genre, it’s not about producing. It’s all about the music.

Two different generations of producers, and two different styles joined together to create a very interesting synergy. A true jewel released on Armada‘s Who’s Afraid of 138?! label and already available on Beatport, Spotify and iTunes. If you haven’t heard it, what are you waiting for? Give in to the Predator!
