I still can’t believe it’s already a week ago I was in the beautiful city of Zürich, Switzerland, taking part in the best party in the world! Street Parade 2017!I’m sure there are plenty of amazing parties around the world but… not like this one. And by this, I mean: a free entrance party happening all around Zürich with love mobiles spreading high vibes and people dancing to electronic beats all day long! What about that? Yes, a parade with mobiles isn’t exclusive of carnival, think back when the Love Parade – by the neighbours in Berlin, Germany – was the most famous street electronic party in the world.

Club Nights event Friday 14 April & Aly & Fila – Open to Close Saturday 15 April 2017
It’s been already a week ago since we all had the opportunity to experience an amazing Trance Family gathering like no other before.. I still feel it tingling in my bones, an involving wave of love, still buzzing in the air I breathe.
One week later and still under the spell, after a major trance weekend event, I could barely put myself on tracks this week. The sparkles of an amazing experience still creep under my skin and along my back.
First with Luminosity Trance Gathering on Friday 17th Feb, opening the Gala Trance Weekend in full-mode on, and just before the main event of the weekend, the international indoor festival ASOT800: celebrating 800 radio shows of ‘A State Of Trance’, taking place on Saturday 18th February.
As I write this article, my second editorial, I still think about the best way to deal with all the emotions and feelings I’ve been having since my first one in September. While the summer season was ideal and the summer vibes were absolutely amazing, I now feel confronted with the fact that autumn is quite a different story to tell. Also the fact that middle of the season I’ve got really sick with the flu for longer than 3 weeks, thus unable to put my spirit into the writing mode.
Anyway, September and October have been two amazing months full with huge events, and I was glad I could join many of them.
This Summer season has been quite amazing here in the Netherlands. After EF and Trance Beatsch, we were all asking ourselves how was the summer holidays season going to go on, many parties and festivals, from the most commercial to the less famous ones. Also around Holland, other countries pretty busy with their parties agendas. It’s rave outdoors season!
So many choices, so little time!
In the Netherlands the summer holidays season starts when the school period ends. During 6 weeks we all just want to have the best time and the best weather possible to enjoy outside.
While many of my friends were literally on holidays somewhere beautiful in another country, or mostly in Ibiza, I’ve stayed home. Enough parties and festivals to stay comfortable at home, so long the sun shines, always reason to party!
Grotesque stage at Electronic Family
On 23rd July took place one of the major trance events in Amsterdam, Electronic Family. I arrived late to EF, my main stage was Grotesque, so I was right on time for RAM’s set and stayed later for Pure NRG (G. Ottaviani + Solarstone) and the closing with Neelix, was really expecting some nice psytrance to end the day.
I was supposed to interview Dutch DJ RAM, but destiny wanted that my mobile phone stayed in London, where I was the week before visiting my sister. All my contacts and important stuff which I use daily to communicate with the world were only possible with my mobile phone. The interview was temporarily out of question.
Following his belief in “not to be a prisoner of your own style”, Armin van Buuren is releasing today ‘Old Skool’, a mini album with old school tracks, reworks of the music that made him step into electronic music but… will this trigger a revival or is it just a temporary fad?
We have seen along the years that many DJs have been experimenting with different styles, not always with the same amount of success.
Some artists have built their careers out of experimenting with music, while some others have stayed faithful to their original choice. Truth to be told, the path of producing music is about creativity and innovation.
The advent of daredevil raids towards different genres far beyond the boundaries of the DJ’s regular style, have also given birth to a group of purist fans complaining towards anything that lies beyond traditional or expectable.
At the time Tiësto migrated into EDM and Pulsar gave up on Trance music because the industry was heading somewhere somehow where nobody would follow, we witnessed different approaches to that natural change and dynamism. And change is not a bad thing per se.
