As the summer festival season is only starting, and one of the most intriguing and young festivals EDMANIA will happen in the small city in Slovakia – Trenčín, which became famous thanks to previous EDMANIA editions. This festival, which for few years already brings people not only from Slovakia, but also other countries together, will open its doors to the music lovers and ravers already this Friday – June 22, and for the first time in almost 3 years it will last not just one, but two days!
Often, there are unique events in special exclusive locations and travelling to those ones creates one entire exciting experience that starts very early. From entering an airport or boarding a plane with excitement, when you are one step closer, when each of it is imbued by the synthesis of world’s leading trance music act, Above & Beyond, and performance in their home, London.
The unique event of trance trio, such like only once or twice a year, this time was arranged in London’s Finsbury park, Creamfields’ Steel Yard megastructure. As it was stated, Steel Yard currently is the largest structure of its kind in Europe. In numbers? 15000 visitors can party inside the construction at once, so it becomes one of the biggest venues in London to host legends Above & Beyond and their own event this year.
After making us fall in love once and again with his singles along many years, Ben Gold has embarked into producing an album, and he has delivered. Oh lord, he has indeed delivered! Let’s have a look upon the first chapter of Ben Gold’s debut album!
Ben Gold’s massive talent has never been in question. Since he started back in 2006, he was always a promise for trance, and now he has become an established figure in our gigs. He’s one of the best producers in trance music nowadays and people can like his style to different extents, but in the end he is, after all, an extremely skilled DJ and producer.

When such a huge star of Vocal Trance music is coming to your city, you can’t miss a chance to take an interview, so even if it took over 30 hours for Emma Hewitt to come to Europe from Australia, she still agreed to have one, revealing some news and interesting facts about her past and future projects, how difficult it can be to find a producer for solo songs, who usually pay – producers or vocalists, and more facts, which you can read below!
Last Saturday was a significant day for the Trance Family not just in Latvia, but also from the neighboring countries – Lithuania, Estonia and Belarus, as one of the most popular Trance vocalists Emma Hewitt was invited to perform at one of the best clubs in Riga – Coyote Fly. Even if for them it was a usual way to attract more new people, for some it turned into a dream coming true: meeting and listening to this angelic vocalist in person, even if it means travelling more than four hours for just a few hours of Trance music.
Young, wild and free. Probably those were the words that any ‘classic’ trance producer might have said back in the days when W&W, the Dutch duo formed by Willem van Hanegem and Wardt van der Harst, jumped into the trance scene and ran us over like a hurricane. Their disruptive sounds, that were breaking the molds for many, were their biggest asset.
After 2011, they started moving towards a big room house sound, which many criticized, and some others saw as a betrayal, especially those die-hard fans who had fallen in love with their sound. They released an album ‘Impact’ in that same year, and for many, it was representative of the place where trance stood in those days. Even Armin van Buuren used to say that they were probably the future of trance. Almost 11 years after they released their first track, the story is different. For some people, they still have to prove what they’re made of. For others, there’s no way back from where they arrived with their music. And there’s a third group, the fans, that regardless of what direction they take, they will follow.
Even though they stirred quite a controversy when they appeared back into the trance scene with their side project NWYR and played in ASOT Miami 2017, it seems to me that they haven’t been as productive or successful as one might have expected. It’s all about the timing. One year later, many things have changed for them and also in the trance scene, that is going towards a new direction, leaving EDM behind and embracing again tech and psy sounds.
Whether you like them or not, there’s a lot of questions most of us would want to ask, and we got the chance to talk to them and ask some of them during ASOT in Utrecht. So sit back and enjoy!
When almost everything is said and done, it becomes difficult to find the words and explain beyond-fantastic. It also happens with A State of Trance, a celebration that year after year has become a pilgrimage for all trance fans and lovers, and also for the newcomers. We have been in that moment, and we’ll tell you all about it!
Another year, another ASOT: the excitement remains the same, over the roof! Despite the changes that may occur from time to time, the spirit is what makes every ASOT feel like a continuation of the previous one. This year we encountered a different layout, a progressive stage and a few more changes: some paid off, some other had dubious success: but in the end, it’s always a pleasure to experience it!
Some said a few years ago that Trance was dead, and that ASOT was going to give up on trance in order to keep massive as it is. This year, however, we’ve seen the festival expanding yet another time, and all I see is that trance is all but dead.
