As it’s known, Trance is a very specific genre of music, which has a somewhat limited amount of followers around the world. While in countries like Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland etc. it is getting quite a lot of support, in many other countries it has not enough popularity for promoters to invite Trance producers and event organizers, for instance, the Baltic countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia. However, it’s too early to lose hope, because support of this unique music is growing in Estonia, which leads to more events, but is it beneficial to organizers? How long will it continue? And what can improve the situation? Let’s think!
We, the first departing Lithuanians, met excited at an almost empty bus station during the late evening to travel to Poland, to an event we had been waiting for since the shining lineup was released. Gdansk and Sopot shone like the faraway trance destination we were heading to.
From the early arrival to Gdansk to the extended city weekend, for us, it was magic. Whether we were lonely tourists at the center in the dark morning, between decorated streets or at dawn walking along the river, or when we started small home party. We were waiting for our trance friends to join this weekend experience group by group – the Trance Xplosion Reborn event had attracted the biggest number of Lithuanians arriving to party this year, even some flying here from abroad and trance friends coming from Belarus.
After over 2 years, dreams came true: I finally got the chance to come for Grotesque Indoor Festival 300 (GIF300)! If a few years ago I was just curious about it, it wasn’t until last year that I promised myself (and also to RAM, in fact), that I will make it to the next edition – and I did it! Its super friendly atmosphere, that surprised me, and intriguing (also live) ‘decorations’, which make this event quite unique, compared to other Trance events I’ve visited. But what comes next?
Like the name defines itself, Dreamstate SoCal festival sounds like a dream to reach, especially for those who are not from United States. A mix of a dreamy vision for a new, different type festival, and the experience at the prime and biggest trance music event in USA, Dreamstate also implies a few tasks to be completed before getting there. It demands long flights, visas, some conversation at the departure airport before boarding, an interrogatory dialog with the U.S. border officers at the arrival airport, and finally your own transfers to San Bernardino city in California, where the festival took place for the third year.
Three weeks ago another DJ duo had their debut on Transmission Festival in Prague, at sold-out O2 Arena. No wonder they have been chosen to start the night, as their last years were really successful. We were lucky to catch them for a nice talk and here it is – interview with legendary Super8 & Tab!
While most of my friends were waiting for a premiere of new Transmission “The Spirit Of The Warrior”, I was waiting for the event which came before, and all thanks to my previous Transmission experience. It was my third time coming to Prague for this music event, and if I go back in time to 2015, it so was different than it was now, but every time it is something to remember.
Every mile on the road, every scenery through the bus window or just the afternoon silence over empty lands, every little German city and uncountable kilometers are taking you closer. Passing a bus stop, then Groningen and passengers coming on the bus, another stop, miles of land and vast waters like the sea on the side, the sun and the fields. Dutch eyes. Many kilometers and many landscapes. The heartbeat rising. Fragile and gentle nostalgia of Amsterdam that is alluring and flowing through all the senses.
When I subconsciously counted the last kilometers on the road to Holland’s capital, to the music temple for these days, the thrill of coming to the ADE week was covered up by the excitement for In Trance We Trust festival which took place the first evening.
It’s been already more than 2 weeks since ADE, and especially since the day Trance Family loved and hated at the same time because of two events happening at the same time – Luminosity (Lumi) and A State Of Trance (ASOT) ADE Specials. It was the moment when you had to pick the best one… But some decided not to choose and do both. Question is – was it a good idea? Let’s see!
Despite of the fact Luminosity and ASOT events took place the same day during the Amsterdam Dance Event week, and apart from the music lover’s heart battle on which one to attend, it’s such a blessing there have been more trance events this year during ADE. For me it was unquestioned which one to choose for that night: last year’s Luminosity ADE event was 12 hours long, having big trance scene names as headliners, crazy party in front of the stage and so many legendary Djs to meet at one place. Besides, that night a new formula of trance music event was created and I had an emotional ‘explosion’ by the end of marathon, so there was more than enough reasons to go again.
Last week Amsterdam hosted many music festivals, but the ‘purest’ one of the Trance related events was probably “Quest4Trance & Solarstone presents Pure Trance ADE 2017“, and not only because of the name, but also because of the music! In a few words: It was the most perfect event to finish ADE with, and even better intro to new Pure Trance Vol.6 compilation.
